Ackerman Appointed to Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board

Fountain Valley, CA – August 16,2010, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the appointment of Linda Ackerman to the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board. Ms Ackerman is a director on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan), representing the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC).

“Ms. Ackerman has distinguished herself as a leader in water in Southern California and beyond,” said Joan Finnegan, MWDOC’s President. “Her ability to understand complex water issues, work collaboratively for equitable, comprehensive solutions, and do so in a manner that reflects the values of Orange County, sets her apart.”

Ackerman has been an active philanthropist and has served in numerous leadership positions throughout Orange County and nationally. She has held key positions within the Republican Party, including an election to as National Committeewoman to the Republican National Committee. In addition to her extensive philanthropist activities and experience in fundraising and the political process, including a recent project focusing on the formation of a non-profit corporation that will address maintaining historic working areas in our State Capitol Building, Ackerman is president of financial development for the Marian Bergeson Excellence in Public Service Series. She is also the executive director of the California State Capitol Preservation Fund.

Through her many years in Sacramento and southern California, Mrs. Ackerman has developed insight into the state’s diverse and increasingly vital interests in water resources.

Director Ackerman was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado and majored in Foreign Languages. She and her husband of 40 years, former State Senator, Dick Ackerman, have resided in Orange County for over 30 years. They have three children, Lauren, Marc, and Brett, and two granddaughters, Caitlin and Elizabeth.
