"North York Visual Artists have utilized the facilities at the Mitchell Field Community Centre in Willowdale for a number of years. It is located on Church Ave. a few blocks East of Yonge Street. This year, eight artists exhibited a variety of impressive artworks. The following photographs merely suggest the quality of the art on offer". - Ann Katz, NYVA Treasurer

"This year the facility was also home to an advance voting pole. Although this increased the flow of traffic through the exhibition, the number of sales was disappointing. Nevertheless, the group of eight, most of whom have shared this space on other NYVA Art Tours, made use of the time to greet friends and members of the community, to get to know each other better, to share tips and advice and to develop contacts". - Anne Neidhardt, NYVA Archivist

About North York Visual Artists

In 1998, the Culture Office of the City of North York convened a meeting to explore how to assist and coordinate the efforts of North York visual artists in order to enrich the North York community art scene.

A founding group elected the first executive, in March 1998 at Edithvale Community Centre, with Joy Orzy as mentor. Monthly meetings provided demonstrations and lectures.
