Oboz Teton Suede Fuses Mountain Sport and Life

Technical trail shoe goes from town to trail and back

The Teton mountains in Wyoming inspired Oboz-the new footwear company based in Bozeman, Montana-to create a new technical outdoor shoe that pays tribute to their grandeur. The Teton Suede, which retails for $95.00, is available for men and women in gender-specific fits.

“This is a technical, all-around outdoor trail shoe with appeal on Main Street but it’s plenty robust in the mountains,” said Oboz founder John Connelly. Oboz suggests using the shoe for day hiking to multi-day backpack trips to moderate off-trail scrambling.

Oboz highlights the central Teton Range right on the outsole of the shoe, with etched contours derived from topographical maps of those mountains. “If you cradle a pair of shoes together and look at the outsole, you have a continuous map,” said Oboz’s Josh Fairchilds, who noted that, additionally, the heel strike sports a classic view of the Tetons. It’s not just a pretty picture, though: The outsole is honed with high friction, non-marking rubber and aggressive, multi-directional lugs for optimal control on your feet.

Underfoot, the Teton shoes are substantially built with board lasting, and a five-part design including a full-foot protective sheet, and two densities of molded EVA foam that blend shock absorption, stability, cushioning and durability. Inside the shoe, a high-quality triple density insole is engineered to give excellent support and comfort.

The Teton Suede features a breathable perforated split-leather upper with asymmetrical lacing.
