After a successful debut in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010, Food University Presented by Family Circle is back—combining Family Circle’s fun and friendly approach to cooking with a “food enlightenment experience” produced by Richard Gore, the former President of Food Network Live! and producer of over 200 high-profile celebrity chef events. Other chefs participating in the ten-city culinary tour are Curtis Aikens and Claudine Pépin.
Caprial & John Pence, co-hosts of American Public Television’s Caprial & John's Kitchen: Cooking for Family and Friends and authors of Caprial & John's Kitchen: Recipes for Cooking Together, will be demonstrating Family Circle recipes and discussing the importance of local produce, the power of using spices to boost flavor, ideas for quick and delicious appetizers, and tips for easy entertaining.
Joining Caprial & John—and serving as the event’s host—will be Marc Silverstein, known as host of The Best Of on Food Network and Go Ahead, Make My Dinner on Discovery Channel.
“Our readers, the moms of tweens and teens, are cooking more at home to save money and spend more time together with their families,” says Diane Papazian, publisher of Family Circle. “One of our most popular online features at familycircle.com is our recipe section because so many people are looking for healthy family recipes and have questions about using the right ingredients. Our relationship with IKEA and Food University gives us the opportunity to help people feel more comfortable in their kitchens and improve their lives.”
“This isn’t your standard cooking school and these aren’t your standard cooking instructors,” says Richard Gore, President of Food U Properties LLC. “How often does one get to interact with experts in such an approachable setting? In addition to our seminars, the chefs will be there to answer any questions or provide specific advice to anyone seeking to elevate their knowledge of food.” Participating sponsors are an integral ingredient to the event concept. For example, IKEA believes that the kitchen is the heart of the home and their kitchen planners will be in attendance supporting IKEA's commitment to helping consumers improve their homes as well as their lives. “Letting the attendees know why utilizing quality products enhances the cooking and dining experience is part of what these events are all about,” says Gore.
