FOOD UNIVERSITY™ PRESENTED BY FAMILY CIRCLE TO VISIT IKEA SUNRISE WITH KARL BENKO & MARC SILVERSTEIN, TO TEACH KITCHEN BASICS

A Free “Food-As-Entertainment” experience visits IKEA Sunrise on March 12th

New York – How would you like to learn delicious recipes and cooking basics from culinary experts in a comfortable atmosphere for free? Aspiring home cooks will get to do just that as they watch Karl Benko cut, slice, mix, prepare and entertain at a fun filled afternoon of learning and cooking during the Food University™ Presented by Family Circle event at IKEA Sunrise on Saturday, March 12th from 2-4 p.m.

After successful tours in Fall 2009, Spring 2010 and Fall 2010, Food University Presented by Family Circle is back—combining Family Circle’s fun and friendly approach to cooking with a “food enlightenment experience” produced by Richard Gore, the former President of Food Network Live! and producer of over 200 high-profile celebrity chef events. Other chefs participating in the ten-city culinary tour are Mary Ann Esposito, Cutis Aikens and Caprial & John Pence.

Karl Benko was responsible for the launch of New York City’s Award-winning Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, where he oversaw all kitchen operations. Currently a consultant for major restaurant groups, Karl will be demonstrating Family Circle recipes and discussing the importance of local produce, the power of using spices to boost flavor, ideas for quick and delicious appetizers, and tips for easy entertaining.

Joining Karl—and serving as the event’s host—will be Marc Silverstein, known as host of The Best Of on Food Network and Go Ahead, Make My Dinner on Discovery Channel.

“We know that our readers, the moms of teens and tweens, have started cooking more and more at home as a way to save money and spend more time together with their families,” says Diane Papazian, publisher of Family Circle. “Some are even cooking regularly for the very first time and have basic questions about getting started, choosing healthy recipes and using the right ingredients. Our partnership with IKEA and Food University gives us the opportunity to help people feel more comfortable in their kitchens and improve their lives.”

“Food University’s content and chefs have consistently engaged, entertained and provided the IKEA audience with a unique in store experience,” says Richard Gore, Managing Director of Food U Properties, LLC and founder of Food University.
