Baby Nursery Designed to Sell this Episode

Episode 9 of the HGTV series "The Stagers" airs Wed., May 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET/10:30 p.m. PT on HGTV Canada and on Tues., June 2 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV US.

In this episode titled "Child''s Play," stager Matthew Finlason’s skills are put to the test when he faces a new challenge in his career - staging a nursery that is occupied by an 18-month-old toddler. It is one of several hurdles he must overcome to enhance a family home on a limited budget. With the help of stager-in-training Rukiya, Matthew must come up with some kid-friendly and creative ideas to achieve an impressive transformation that will not break the bank, but will help sell the house.

Five tips for staging a nursery on a budget include:

1 - Use removable wall stickers to create a dramatic motif on a budget.

2 - Pick gender neutral colors for the walls like sage green.

3 - Buy or rent convertible furniture (i.e. a crib that turns into a twin bed) which can bridge the age gap.

4 - Opt for simple over cute.

5 - Keep the room clutter free by storing books and toys in inexpensive baskets or boxes.

The hit HGTV series “THE STAGERS,” which currently airs on HGTV Canada and HGTV US, is packed full of stunning transformations that turn dull for-sale spaces into spectacular residences that shine in today’s real-estate market. This season, Matthew, Bridget and Maureen - professional stagers from Dekora, one of Canada’s leading home staging companies - work to stage a range of homes while hustling to exceed client demands. Budgets and schedules are tight in the world of home staging which means our multi-tasking teams are always in the pressure cooker. From practical tricks on how to sell your home to the sparks that fly when the heat is on, each episode is a lesson in transforming a house from a first impression turn-off to a market gem.
