PetMD Turns the Spotlight Back onto Celebrities and 'Petlanthropy'

Pet lifestyle property Haute or Not? @PetMD celebrates the celebrity that loves animals

Miami - Celebrities often give their name and time to charities, championing the causes they feel most passionate about. Their support and the media coverage they draw to themselves can be of considerable benefit to the organizations they promote.

Haute or Not? @PetMD® is a lifestyle media property written in the many voices of the PetMD product testers, consisting of four dogs, a cat and a horse. "In this case, our animal product testers nominate the celebrity and a human writes the column - 'Why We Love'," said Rick Tamargo, Editor-in-Chief of Haute or Not? @PetMD.

For example, Prince Lorenzo Borghese's Royal Pet Club will make a donation to the North Shore Animal League when their customers request free samples. Ellen Degeneres, a long time customer and part owner of Halo Pets, supports Freekibble.com, an organization that provides food to dogs and cats in shelters.

“Whether you are looking to adopt a pet, donate money or volunteer your time, the options can be overwhelming,” said Wanita Burnett, Co-Founder and VP of Strategy of PetMD. "We like to look at others and reveal how they are making a difference. Big or small, it doesn't matter, we hope it will educate and inspire others."

Featured celebrities in 'Why We Love' include: Ellen Degeneres, Prince Lorenzo Borghese, Pamela Anderson, David Duchovny, Alyssa Milano, Mickey Rourke.? Learn more and subscribe to Haute or Not? @PetMD .
