Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Honors Six Local Women

2010 Women of Distinction Luncheon March 31, 2010

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Girl Scouts of Gateway Council will honor six local women at the 22nd annual Women of Distinction fundraising luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, March 31, 2010.

The Women of Distinction Luncheon recognizes women whose accomplishments in careers and community service exemplify the values of Girl Scouts.

The 2010 Women of Distinction honorees are Karen Bowling, Sandra Cook, Shahla Masood MD, Carole Poindexter, Julia Taylor, and Norma Solomon White.

The luncheon, co-chaired by Martha Barrett and Teala Milton, will take place from 12:00pm – 1:30pm and is open to the public with advance registration required; tickets are $55 each, tables of ten (10) are available starting at $500.

This event is supported by major sponsors Publix Super Markets Charities, Winn-Dixie Stores and WTEV CBS-47. Proceeds from the Women of Distinction Luncheon help provide the Girl Scout program to area girls.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, Inc. serves more than 18,000 girl members and more than 7,000 adult members annually in sixteen counties in North Florida. Membership is open to all girls grades K – 12 and adults age 18 or older, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, creed, national origin, socio-economic status, or disability.
