Ramona Danvers is introduced as a former Nurse Administrator at General Hospital who was involved in an organ-selling ring before disappearing. Carly (Laura Wright) has been seeking answers about her daughter’s kidney transplant, which leads her husband Sonny (Maurice Benard) to track down Ramona, forcing her back to Port Charles after learning she was on duty. Ramona breaks-down confessing to Carly that she was coerced into this illegal donor ring. Later, Ramona shows her true stripes reassuring a mystery caller that their secret is still safe from Carly.
Niemi is thrilled to join the General Hospital family of characters, adding “I grew up watching General Hospital so for me it has been a real treat. Elizabeth Taylor even recurred on it for a while; I mean…come on….what a legacy and a testament to the longevity and quality of this show.”
Daytime fans will also recognize Niemi from her recurring role as Dr. Beth Greene on the CBS daytime drama The Young and the Restless. She stepped into the storyline as the OB/GYN treating Sage (actress Kelly Sullivan, also a General Hospital alum) throughout her complicated pregnancy.
Niemi has gained legions of fans for her recurring role as the two-faced Harlan County inmate, Sally, during Season 5 of FX’s popular TV show, Justified; and most recently for her appearance as CIA Analyst Wendy Balian in the hit CBS police-drama, NCIS:LA. Other notable roles include Jillian, the Queen Bee of San Griento housewives, in the horror/comedy film, Chastity Bites; and in the Steve Jobs’ biopic, Jobs, starring Ashton Kutcher. Niemi also worked alongside Oscar-nominated actor Tim Roth in acclaimed Mexican director Michel Franco’s 2015 Cannes award-winning dramatic feature, Chronic.
Coming soon, Niemi lends her support in veteran director David S. Cass Sr.’s rom-com, Hometown Hero; and stars in the indie horror film, Lake Alice.
Laura Niemi is repped by Prestige Talent Agency; Marshak and Mills; and J. Pervis Talent Agency (Atlanta).
