National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is September 26th

(Lander, Wyo) – The Lander Police Department is participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on September 26, 2015.
Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal on Saturday, September 26th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Drop off location is at Mr. D’s Food Center located at 725 Main Street in Lander.
“Prescription drugs are the third most commonly abused category of drugs, behind alcohol and marijuana and ahead of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines,” states a release from the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming. “Most people don’t realize most illegally sold prescription drugs come from home medicine cabinets. Keeping track of drugs, reducing the availability of drugs in the home, and getting rid of unneeded drugs are the best practices citizens can implement to fight prescription drug abuse.”
Some unused, non-narcotic medications can be donated to the Wyoming Medication Donation Program, which is operated by the Wyoming Department of Health. For more information, call 1-855-257-5041.
