CHEYENNE, Wyo - The Wyoming Office of Tourism is proud to announce today that its 2015 work with agency-of-record Fahlgren Mortine won the Public Relations Society of America Bronze Anvil for the best media relations program by a government entity.
For more than 45 years, the Bronze Anvil Awards have celebrated the "best of the best" in public relations tactics from throughout the nation. The competition for the 2016 Bronze Anvil Awards demonstrates the high standards applied to entries, as only six percent of entrants were recognized as Anvil winners.
"Our public relations team hit the ground running in 2015, and we're proud to be recognized for that hard work," said Diane Shober, Executive Director of the Wyoming Office of Tourism. "From hosting journalists in-state to securing nearly three times the goal of feature stories in targeted publications, we are confident that we've made a strong, positive impact on the tourism industry in Wyoming."
Through hosting media from national outlets, media events on both sides of the country, the creation of the custom content and announcement of the Disney*Pixar "The Good Dinosaur" partnership, the Wyoming Office of Tourism and Fahlgren Mortine far exceeded their 2015 media relations goals and supported the state's impressive 4.2 percent increase in visitation last year.
"We've built a strong partnership with the Wyoming Office of Tourism to enhance the national visibility of the state, and it is through our collaboration that this recognition has been made possible," said Neil Mortine, President and CEO of Fahlgren Mortine. "Our first year of work was full of creativity and tenacity, and we're excited to build on that work through 2016 and beyond."
The Wyoming Office of Tourism was also honored this spring as a finalist for The Holmes Report's 2016 SABRE Award in the Government Agencies category for its public relations work with Disney*Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur."
