Brunch meets New Orleans-style seafood: Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar to launch NOLA Sunday Brunch on November 15

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 4, 2015) –Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar introduces NOLA Sunday Brunch beginning Nov. 15 following the restaurant’s one-year anniversary in October. Jax Chef de Cuisine Theresia Ota combines Jax’s sustainable, New Orleans-inspired seafood with brunch menu staples to bring a new, unique option to Kansas City’s brunch scene. Jax’s brunch menu will consist of more than 30 items, including Jax originals Shrimp and Grits, French Toast and Blackened Catfish Benny. 

The NOLA-inspired brunch menu gives a nod to the well-known JAX Brewery in New Orleans, the namesake of Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar. Before founding Jax, Owner Dave Query spent many years as a chef in New Orleans, diving into the cuisine and energy of the city. The NOLA Sunday Brunch menu takes guests back to Jax’s roots with the use of iconic New Orleans flavors and twists on classic dishes from the eclectic city.

The launch of Sunday brunch will be the first major project managed by new General Manager Tim Roy. The ocean has always been a big part of Tim’s life, as he was born in Maryland and raised in Seattle. College brought him to the heartland, where he studied English and Spanish at the University of Kansas. After completing his degree, he went on to study Culinary Arts at Johnson County Community College.

Jax will offer brunch from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. every Sunday. A limited menu including the raw bar, Fried Calamari, Chicken & Crawfish Gumbo, and The Wedge will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m. At 4 p.m., happy hour begins and runs until 6 p.m. and Jax’s regular dinner menu becomes available.
