Registration is Open for 16th Annual Arthritis Foundation California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 18, 2016) – Registration is now open for the 16th annual California Coast Classic Bike Tour (CCC), presented by Amgen. The fundraising tour of California’s iconic Highway One, taking place September 24 through October 1, 2016, welcomes beginners and experienced riders alike to enjoy the coastline’s famous wineries, lighthouses and beaches. Spaces are limited to 250 riders this year.

The California Coast Classic is the leading fundraising event for the Arthritis Foundation. This eight-day, full-service, fully-supported ride along California’s scenic Pacific Coast Highway raises funds to help support the Foundation’s vital research, advocacy and programs for those with arthritis. In 2015, registration for the bike tour sold out with more than 300 riders, and the ride raised a record-breaking $1.45 million to benefit the Arthritis Foundation.

It’s clear to see why the 525-mile tour from San Francisco to Los Angeles was named among “The 30 Best Trips of 2015” by Outside Magazine. “I was so excited about this adventure to cycle 525 miles of the most scenic coastal roads on this tiny planet of ours, raising money for a wonderful cause and the hope of making some new friends,” said first year rider, Gavin Hough. “I feel truly blessed with the adventures I have experienced, the new friends I have made, the generosity and support of the CCC family. My heart must have at least doubled in size.”

In 2016, the ride features a brand new campsite in Cambria with improved facilities. The ride will also feature special events this year, including Wine tastings and happy hour events each evening.

Sign up early! The number of riders accepted for the 2016 tour will be 50 less than previous years in order to provide a better and safer experience for the cyclists and volunteers, both on the road and at camp.

“Arthritis is more than just a few minor aches and pains. It’s a debilitating disease that robs people of their dreams,” says regional VP Amy Daugherty. “When you support the California Coast Classic, you not only experience a bucket list bike ride down our beautiful coast, but also help us fund critical research and resources for those living with arthritis including the 300,000 children. Whether you are close to the disease or simply looking for an inspiring charity event that truly makes a difference, the CCC Bike Tour is a great way to experience the power of standing together and giving back to the community. Together, over 350 cyclists, volunteers and supporters will embark on this 525 mile journey to help us reach our goal of raising over $1.2 million to help find a cure for this disease.”
