Polartec's Steve Cuthbert Named '40 Under 40' Award Recipient

Polartec's Director of Sales for North America, Steve Cuthbert, has been named a '40 Under 40' award recipient by Sporting Goods Business (SGB) magazine. Each year, the award honors young leaders from all corners of the sporting goods industry. Cuthbert was one of 40 recipients under the age of 40 selected by a panel of SportsOneSource analysts, editors and industry executives from more than 450 nominations submitted.

"These awards are a way to recognize the great work done by younger leaders in our industry," said James Hartford, president, CEO of The SportsOneSource Group, which publishes the SGB trade publication. "The extraordinary and diverse talent nominated this year made it difficult to narrow the list to just 40 people. We drew very strong support from prior honorees and other industry leaders to select a prestigious group of individuals and it is our pleasure to honor the next generation of leaders."

"I'm incredibly honored by the recognition," said Cuthbert. "Polartec is innovating more than ever and I'm proud to work with our outstanding team."

Cuthbert joined Polartec, then Malden Mills, in 1997, after graduating with a Masters in Textile Technology and a brief stint playing pro soccer. At Malden Mills, Cuthbert initially worked as an account manager for New York, then the Pacific Northwest and Northern California, where in each case, he grew the territory by significant margins. In 2002, Cuthbert returned to Malden Mills headquarters in Lawrence, Mass., to successfully grow the company's national accounts. In 2004, Cuthbert left Malden Mills to work for Primaloft as the Eastern US Territory Manager and within two years grew the territory by 40 percent.

In 2007, Cuthbert was hired back as Director of Sales for North America. He has since also taken responsibility for customer service for North America to coordinate with the sales agents.

"Steve has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of Polartec," says Polartec President Andy Vecchione. "He has assembled the best sales force in the company's history and under his leadership, Polartec achieved record sales in 2010."

Cuthbert resides in Mickleton, NJ with his wife, Cissy, and sons, Jack and Sam.
