Guiding businesses in reaching the trendsetting environments of the coveted "geek chic" hipster/comic-con market, the PopCult team's culmination of years in the comic industry and converging media has a collective fan-base that captures hundreds of thousands of followers in the worlds revolving around "ComiCulture."
PopCult is the brainchild of Devil's Due's Josh Blaylock, "Anyone who has been in comics for the past decade can see how the love for the medium has grown and expanded into other media," said Blaylock. "But it's more than just that - it's a lifestyle that affects fashion, music, films - it's a culture all its own now, and unlike a decade ago, it's suddenly 'cool.'"
For major corporations seeking to penetrate the booming ComiCulture market, PopCult delivers inside track solutions as opposed to the lesser informed marketing agencies or comic publishers with little to no project management ability.
"It's exciting to be working with a group of people that can cross boundaries and make so many things happen," says Christian Beranek, who has a first look deal at Disney/ABC. "As the media world continues to evolve PopCult will be two steps ahead leading the way."
"We are a group of specialists, all respected in our various fields. PopCult can reach our demographic of the growing and diverse group of anime-watching, comic book-reading, video game-playing community of 'geeks' that are well-educated", Murs said, "The new age of technology has created a lot more geeks than ever."
"Years of working in various aspects of entertainment have proven one thing: the demand for product and service crossovers have greatly expanded, and continue to expand," says R.H. Stavis. "PopCult is essentially blurring the boundaries; making something so desired also attainable."
Connecting hip-hop, design, art and gaming within the synergy of comics, PopCult launches with PopCultour. This nationwide showcase features Murs and Blaylock and an array of industry talent at in-store events by day and performances by night.
The tour kicks off at Comic-Con San Diego, Summer 2009, in one of the Gaslamp District's hottest clubs and will continue at geek chic epicenters around the country.
