The contest offers a voice to actual network users to nominate who they get the best information from and, when the results are announced, will encourage others to follow those people, too.
The nomation process takes less than five minutes and requires only the Twitter name (@name) of the person(s) nominated and the appropriate category. Users can be nominated in categories ranging from Web 2.0 and Environment to News Media.
"Whether I'm looking to connect with an avid sports enthusiast or banter about political debates, the contest is sure to broaden not only my own, but everyone's Twitter network."
The Top 50 contest closes on Oct. 7 at 5 p.m. CST with results announced via Twitter Oct. 8 at 9 a.m. CST. Follow updates about contest by using search term "twittop50."

About Twitter
Twitter is a privately funded startup with offices in the SoMA neighborhood of San Francisco, CA. Started as a side project in March of 2006, Twitter has grown into a real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices. In countries all around the world, people follow the sources most relevant to them and access information via Twitter as it happens-from breaking world news to updates from friends.
