Pyxl Assists Knoxville Challenger in Breaking Fundraising Goal by Over 200%

Raises Largest Amount of any Challenger Event in History

11.03.2009 – Knoxville, Tenn. – Knoxville-based marketing services firm, Pyxl, announced today it has assisted the USTA Knoxville Challenger in breaking its sponsorship goal by raising a total of $156,000 in cash and in-kind donations for the event. This is the largest amount raised by any Challenger event in the country since the event’s inception and is more than double the committee’s initial goal of $70,000.

"We’ve been very pleased with the marketing help Pyxl has given us. They have helped us to greatly exceed our sponsorship goals and have been incredibly responsive to our needs. They have truly become a part of our Challenger team,” said Howard Z. Blum, Tournament Director of The Knoxville Challenger. “This is a great event with a great cause, and I am thankful to Pyxl, along with all of our wonderful sponsors for making this happen.”

Early event sponsors provided the funds necessary to cover event costs, allowing a large portion of the sponsorship dollars to benefit The Helen Ross McNabb Center. The Center is a regional not-for-profit organization that has provided quality and compassionate mental health care, addiction and recovery and social services to those in need within the Knoxville community since 1948.

In March, the Knoxville Challenger committee hired Pyxl to handle all strategy consulting, graphic design, web design and development, public relations and social media for the Knoxville Challenger.

In that time, Pyxl designed the event’s logo and sponsorship packet, developed a dynamic website, consulted on high-level strategy, and assisted in implementation of social media and public relations outreach. Additionally, Josh Phillips, President at Pyxl, sits on the Challenger committee as an advisor, and the Pyxl team will continue to assist in promoting attendance at the event and providing event support.

The Knoxville Challenger is a USTA Pro Circuit event that will return to the Knoxville community on November 9-14. This 6-day men’s professional tennis event will be held at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center on the University of Tennessee campus.

Aside from Pyxl, sponsors for the Knoxville Challenger include Pilot Oil, All Occasions Catering, Cherokee Distributing, The Crown Plaza, Rather & Kittrell Capital Management, Stowers Machinery and Vulcan Materials.
