New Virtual Visioning Tool Now Available Free to the Public on GoogleEarth
08.24.2008 – MERIDIAN, Idaho - Meridian and Treasure Valley residents now have the ability to view Downtown Meridian in a whole new way through access to a cutting-edge 3D model of Downtown.
Meridian Development Corporation [MDC], the urban renewal agency leading efforts in Downtown Meridian to create a vibrant destination to live, work and play, contracted with Power Engineers (formerly Visual Genesis) to build a 3D model and flythrough of the core to help people visualize the future for Downtown.
That model has now been uploaded to the popular GoogleEarth site and is freely available for the public to explore and discover what Downtown looks like today, and envision what it could be in the near and distant future.
In addition to use by the general public, the MDC is using the tool in its long-term planning for the urban core.
“This virtual modeling of downtown is an invaluable tool for our development and community partners as we work together to shape Meridian’s Downtown,” said Craig Slocum, MDC Board chairman. “And being available to the entire world online means it will help raise the profile of Meridian and all we have to offer.”
According to Power Engineers, Meridian will only be the second municipality in all of Idaho to have this level of detail shown on GoogleEarth.
