12.07.2009 – LONDON, UK – ShipServ, the leading maritime e-marketplace, today announced that Reederei F. Laeisz G.m.b.H., one of the leading German shipping companies, has joined the ShipServ maritime trading community.
Laeisz has approximately 1,100 crew onboard and about 150 employees ashore. Its fleet of around 50 vessels has a size of more than 2,000,000 TDW and includes Container vessels, Bulk carriers, Car carriers, Gas carriers, Ro-Ro/Pax vessels and Research vessels.
With ShipServ TradeNet, the world’s leading maritime trading platform, Laeisz intends to streamline its purchasing processes and increase efficiencies by bringing all suppliers across the enterprise on to one common platform.
“With the industry facing extremely hard times we need to find new ways to optimize savings,” commented H. Schlotfeldt, Managing Technical Director, Reederei F. Laeisz. “ShipServ was an obvious choice as we’re confident it will help us by reducing costs, maximizing employee time and minimizing overall risk.”
TradeNet helps the buyers and sellers of ship supplies to reduce the costs associated with doing business together. Over 140 ship owners, managers and yards use TradeNet to manage the purchasing for 4,700 vessels. In September 2009 TradeNet exceeded 10 million transactions.
“I’d like to personally welcome Laeisz to the ShipServ community,” stated Paul Ostergaard, Founder & CEO, ShipServ. “And I look forward to helping them drive cost out of their business and streamline their purchasing operations.”
