North American Council for Freight Efficiency Announces Second “Driving Innovation” Meeting

Trucking industry leaders invited to join the NACFE and advance industry-wide freight efficiency solutions

Snowmass, CO – The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) today announced their second “Driving Innovation” meeting on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, MI. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the CALSTART Hybrid Truck Users Forum from 10am-2:30pm.

At this gathering, NACFE representatives will build off their Nov. 2009 Inaugural Symposium to share emerging work of the council, explore future opportunities in freight efficiency and invite interested attendees to become active council participants.

“Although the council is still less than a year old, the interest we’re seeing from the industry is very encouraging. This meeting will provide the entire trucking marketplace a chance to become personally involved in the development and adoption of cost-cutting, environmentally-beneficial technologies and services,” said NACFE Executive Director Michael Roeth.

“Anyone from fleet owners who are frustrated with fluctuating fuel prices to technology providers and industry suppliers looking to bring efficiency solutions to market have the opportunity to join a member organization dedicated to addressing these challenges.”

Founded from an April, 2009 design charrette convened by Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) to double the efficiency of trucking throughout North America, the NACFE was formed to establish a brand for trusted, industry-accepted information on trucking efficiency solutions.

NACFE has since solidified a Board of Directors and infrastructure, and is in the process of securing 501(c)(3) status. In addition, a Technical Advisory Committee has been formed – one of the most significant steps in fulfilling the mission of the NACFE.

NACFE’s “Driving Innovation” meeting registration is free to anyone registered for the CALSTART Hyrbid Truck Users Forum, the largest hybrid and high efficiency truck event in North America. Please register at www.calstart.org/projects/hybrid-truck-users-forum.aspx, by including the NACFE meeting to your registration. Registering for the meeting will also allow you to participate in the HTUF Class 8 working group meeting from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 28.
