Rocky Mountain Institute Awarded for National Cleantech Leadership

Colorado Cleantech Industry Association honors RMI for dedication to our new energy economy

Snowmass, CO – Today, the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA) presented Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) with their award for National Cleantech Leadership. The award honors companies and entrepreneurs driving Colorado’s thriving cleantech industry.

RMI President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Potts accepted the award at the inaugural Colorado Cleantech Awards Celebration, a sold-out event in Denver, CO. CCIA's awards luncheon is the state’s premier event where Colorado's cleantech community comes together to honor the creativity and dedication to our new energy economy put forth by entrepreneurs, educators, corporate innovators, volunteers and policymakers.

"We want to extend our congratulations to this year's winners and finalists, plus extend sincere appreciation from the Colorado Cleantech Industry to these outstanding companies and individuals who have truly made a difference as they've forged their paths in the cleantech sector," said Christine Shapard, CCIA executive director, in announcing the awards.

With more than 300 cleantech companies located in Colorado, the state is establishing themselves as a leader in the industry, and is currently among the top four states in cleantech venture capital investment. Since 1982, Colorado-based RMI has been an international leader in identifying and catalyzing breakthroughs in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

“We are honored to receive this award from the CCIA and its more than 200 member companies,” said Michael Potts, RMI president and chief executive officer. “Like our commercial clean-tech colleagues, we at RMI are determined to apply ingenuity and hard work to create a cleaner, safer, smarter world fueled by efficiency and renewable energy. This recognition, especially from Colorado's market leaders, is inspiring and greatly appreciated.”

RMI experts will connect again with local clean energy companies October 19-21, 2010 at the 23rd National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Industry Growth Forum (also in Denver, CO), an event aimed at maximizing clean energy companies exposure to receptive venture capital, corporate investors, and strategic partners active in the clean energy arena. There, RMI and Autodesk will co-sponsor a panel discussion, “Design for Competitive Advantage,” on October 20. For more information visit cleanenergyforum.com
