06.22.2010 – LOS ANGELES, CA – On Thursday, June 10, 2010, Shawn Khorrami, founding partner of Khorrami Pollard & Abir LLP (KPA), a national law firm representing plaintiffs, hosted a cocktail reception to raise awareness and funds for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). Held at Khorrami’s La Cañada home, the event provided attendees with the opportunity to meet with some of the most influential leaders of the Los Angeles area while receiving a first-hand update of the implications the state budget cut has had on HIV programs from Assemblymember Hector De La Torre and APLA Executive Director Craig E. Thompson.
“Now more than ever, APLA is in need of our support, with the urgency of funds needed to make up for the state budget cuts that have affected HIV and AIDS programs across the state,” said Khorrami. “APLA helps improve the health and quality of life of individuals living with HIV, and educates others on ways to prevent spreading the disease. I am honored to serve on the Board of an organization which has been providing critical services for more than 25 years, and I will continue to provide my support to make sure APLA is able to continue providing the highest level of assistance to the individuals and communities affected by HIV and AIDS.”
