04.28.2009 – LONDON, UK, 28 April, 2009 - ShipServ today announced that it had won the title “UK’s most promising internet company 2009”, awarded by firsttuesday.
Over 175 UK technology companies entered the competition, with the initial shortlisting done by a panel of experts from sponsors Cisco, FirstCapital, Intel and TerraFirma. This long list was then reduced to 8 and then to just 3.
The finalists (ShipServ, wonga.com and twitterjobsearch.com) were then asked to pitch “Dragon’s Den style” in front of a jury consisting of Sean Phelan, Founder of Multimap.com, Ien Cheng, Director of Product Management, Google EMEA and John Yeomans, Partner, FirstCapital. The final happened at this year’s Internet World Exhibition in Earl’s Court, London, and nearly 200 people watched our CEO, Paul Ostergaard, tell the ShipServ story. After much deliberation by the jury, we were proud to be announced winners.
“Its great to hear that our vision for the future has been warmly received by such an esteemed group,” commented Paul. “But I’m particularly delighted that the value we’re delivering to our customers in the shipping industry has been recognised more widely as innovative, compelling and world-class.”
