Wilhelmsen Ship Management sign up with ShipServ

World's leading third party ship management company to use ShipServ for ship supplies purchasing.

06.09.2009 – OSLO, NORWAY, 9 June, 2009. ShipServ (http://www.shipserv.com), the leading maritime e-marketplace, today announced at Nor-Shipping 2009 that it had signed an agreement with Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM), one of the world’s largest providers of third-party ship management services.

Under the terms of the agreement WSM will use ShipServ TradeNet to purchase operational supplies, spare parts, provisions and stores for the ships under its management. WSM manages about 130 commercial vessels, including Ro-Ros, container ships, bulk carriers, car carriers, seismic ships, LNG, LPG, product tankers, offshore supply ships, passenger vessels and specialised vessels.

“We’re delighted to welcome such a prestigious company as WSM to the ShipServ community,” commented Paul Ostergaard, Founder and CEO, ShipServ. “We look forward to helping WSM further innovate their business, and use the power of the internet to save money in their purchasing operations.”

Over 130 top ship owners, managers and yards use TradeNet every day for their operational purchases for over 4,500 ships. Members benefit from reduced administrative overheads, better information to make smarter sourcing decisions, fewer off-hire days due to faster order cycle times, lower shipment costs and the ability to handle more ships without the need to hire more staff.

The agreement was signed at the ShipServ booth at Nor-Shipping by Knut Persson of WSM (pictured, 2nd from left) and Mikael Weis of ShipServ (pictured, far left). Also in attendance were Jijo Kuriokose of WSM (pictured, 2nd from right) and Ane Sivertsen of ShipServ (pictured, far right).
