GUY’S Snacks Launches New Product ~ The Nacho Cheese TORTZ

Kansas City, MO  Kansas City’s own GUY’S Snacks have once again expanded their product line by creating another great tasting, affordable family snack, the Nacho Cheese TORTZ.  The TORTZ is a crisp corn tortilla made from the Midwest’s freshest ingredients then dusted with an intense flavor of nacho cheese to make it the “cheesiest and zestiest” snack.  These bight-sized chips are a great treat for any occasion.  GUY’S Snacks is proud to carry on their legacy of creating affordable, family-friendly snacks for more than seventy years. The Nacho Cheese TORTZ is another example of how GUY’S are adapting to consumer needs, listening to consumer’s feedback and delivering upon those requests.  GUY’S Snacks is happy to have created a product that is not only tasty, but also very affordable.

From its chance creation by Chef George Crum in Saratoga Springs, New York, the potato chip has come a long way.  Weathering the ups and downs of the sometimes-salty snack industry, by creating legendary chips and snack items, GUY’S Snacks has been a Midwest household name for almost eight decades.  GUYS Snacks is now led by owner and newly appointed Vice President of Operations, Janine Joslin.  Since Janine’s appointment as Vice President, her main priority has been the quality of GUY’S products and regaining the once strong market position in the snack food industry.  In an effort to cut costs, Janine moved the company to a new chip manufacturer allowing GUY’S to produce a better quality product in less time, streamlining distribution.  GUY’S Snacks has also acquired over 80 new accounts in areas such as Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin in the last two quarters and plans to hire new sales staff in the Kansas City by the end of the year.

“I look forward to rebranding and rebuilding GUY’S Snacks as the household name in snack foods” said Janine.  A full-scale social media, marketing and ad campaign was launched in early 2011 targeting the younger demographic; a very active and viral consumer.  Contests boasting a good time provided by GUYS Snacks are viral via Facebook, www.snackattack.com, www.guys-snacks.net and the newly launched website www.kctailgating.com.  Consumers are encouraged to ‘Like’, ‘Check-In’, ‘Register to Win’, snap photos of themselves with their favorite GUY’S Snack or send in their favorite tailgating recipe for a chance to win product.  Slogans such as “The GUYS are Back in Town” and the once popular “Don’t Forget The GUYS” are again being seen throughout several Midwest states.

History:  The Joslin’s acquired the Guy’s brand and started GUY’S Snacks Corporation in the spring of 2007.   Named for Guy Caldwell, creator of GUY’S Potato Chips in 1938 and the originator of the BBQ chip, the Caldwell’s sold GUY’S to Bordens in the 60’s.  For the next 30 years the company continued to change hands finally closing the doors in the late 1990s.  Currently, with the help of sales managers, Don Keil and Wayne Craven, both with years of experience in the snack food industry and a long history with GUY’S products, the new GUY’S is on an upward trajectory.  “Resurrecting the GUY’S brand has been a challenging and rewarding career change.  We have a superior product with a loyal following and we’re excited to continue on this road of positive change”, Janine says.  “Our unique Tasty Mix snack is popular for all occasions and our BBQ chip is the number one BBQ seller in the region".

Today, GUY’S Snacks can be found in grocery stores throughout the Midwest including KS, MO, AR, OK, NE, WI, IL and in parts of SD, CO and IA.  In addition, GUY’S Snacks ships through their online ordering service to people all over the country.
