Somerton Teacher Learns of $500 Prize/Donation from Horace Mann
08.25.2009 – SOMERTON, ARIZ. - Chris Fermanis, a teacher at Orange Grove Elementary School in Somerton, got a big surprise at a teachers’ meeting on Aug. 18, 2009.
Fermanis learned that he can claim a $250 prize for himself, plus another $250 to donate to his school. The money comes from The Horace Mann Companies as part of its “Win $ Win” Sweepstakes.
Horace Mann insurance agent Kerri McArthur made the surprise announcement and presentation to Fermanis at the school.
There’s still time to enter the “Win $ Win” Sweepstakes, which started on July 15 and will run until Oct. 15. To enter, an educator/school employee may receive a code from a Horace Mann agent. An educator can also get a code by following the directions as noted on the entry Web site. Then, the educator must go to www.horacemann.com (which also includes complete rules and conditions) and complete an online entry form.
Open to educators and other school employees across most of the United States, the Sweepstakes will award a total of $64,000. The prizes/donations range from a grand prize of $20,000, to eight prizes/donations of $2,000, 16 of $1,000, and 24 of $500. In all cases, half of the total amount is given to the prize winner, with the other half donated in the winner’s name to a not-for-profit, education-related organization.
