“A Tale of Two Disabilities” debate at District 319 on Feb. 10

Charles Annenberg Weingarten & Sam Sullivan to Explore Vancouver Culture & Humanity

Vancouver, British Columbia – Charles Annenberg Weingarten and his signature project explore – a philanthropic multimedia organization whose mission is to champion the selfless acts of others – will hold a debate, “A Tale of Two Disabilities,” at District 319 in Vancouver’s downtown core on February 10, 2010.

Charles Annenberg Weingarten, Vice President and Director of the Annenberg Foundation, will be joined by Tom Pollak, Executive Producer of explore, and Sam Sullivan, former Vancouver mayor (2005 – 2008), to explore issues of global relevance that have a local impact and are part of the Vancouver culture.

Specifically, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Annenberg Weingarten will facilitate a discussion on Mr. Sullivan’s belief that addiction is similar to a physical disability. The Doha-style debate will centre on the question, “Is addiction a disability?”

Numerous community leaders who represent the different areas of the city’s social fabric will be present, providing local, national and international media with their in-depth knowledge.
