Moodagent v2.0 iPhone App Enabled for Social Networking on Twitter, Facebook

New version of app uses music to communicate with “friends” and “followers,” provides control over length of playlist and more

SAN FRANCISCO & COPENHAGEN – Syntonetic, creator of music playlisting and recommendation technologies, today announced a new version of its Moodagent mobile app for the iPhone, iPod Touch. Moodagent v2.0 allows listeners to share playlists via social web sites, including Facebook and Twitter, and allows for more control over the length of the playlist, as well as a number of other new features.

Moodagent profiles songs and creates playlists based on songs’ characteristics, including the mood, genre, sub-genre, style, tempo/beat and instrumentation and production features. All this information is simplified into five touchscreen sliders depicting the moods expressed by a tune: red for Sensual, orange for Tender, yellow for Happy, purple for Angry and gray for Tempo. Moodagent listeners create playlists automatically by adjusting the sliders, or by “seeding” a song and allowing the app to find songs with similar mood profiles.

Fans Spoke and Syntonetic Listened
During the six months since Moodagent launched on iTunes, fans from around the world have requested the ability to share playlists on social networking sites. Like so many iPhone owners, Syntonetic values social media, and with Moodagent v2.0 is introducing the ability to share musical tastes directly with "friends" and "followers" on Twitter and Facebook. To share a playlist, the listener can push a button on the lower right-hand corner of the main screen, enter username and password, and either Facebook friends or Twitter followers will know what he or she is listening to at the moment. Additionally, Facebook friends will have the ability to see the entire contents of the playlist and a personal message.

Perhaps the number one-requested feature that Moodagent fans wanted to see in the next version was to make playlists longer than 25 songs. With this new version, listeners can regulate the number of songs included in a playlist, anywhere from one song up to 50 songs. For listeners who do not have a great variety of music in their libraries, a smaller playlist of 10 songs can make the playlist more true to slider settings. For listeners who want to create a playlist for a party or a very long workout, for example, a longer playlist of 50 may be more desirable.

Another major feature requested by fans with large music collections is the ability to "refresh," or create multiple playlists from a single slider setup. The refresh feature enables the creation of a playlist using the same slider setup as the current playlist, but with different music. The "lock a track" feature can be employed to ensure that a particular track appears each time the playlist is refreshed.

A number of additional new features are also available in Moodagent v2.0:
  • Label sliders. Choose to add labels to each slider as a quick reminder of what each represents.

  • Exclude a track or artist. Disallow specific songs or artists from inclusion in playlists without deleting from the library, for example holiday music.

  • Localize with different languages. Use the app in English, or select from one of 10 other languages: Chinese (simplified), Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian or Spanish.

Many Moodagent features, both previously existing and new features mentioned here, are adjustable via a button at the top-right of the main screen.

"Since Moodagent launched in December, the Syntonetic team has been taking in feedback from everyone who has offered it in an effort to make this next version an improved application, and one that positively dazzles with new capabilities," said Richard French, chief executive officer, Syntonetic, Inc. "We're especially delighted to be offering sharing features for social media sites Twitter and Facebook. We think people will find it very refreshing to be able to communicate their mood or feelings with friends by simply showing them what's playing on their iPhone."

Two Versions of Moodagent Now Available
With this new version, Syntonetic has chosen to move the app to an ad-based model so that listeners may continue to enjoy Moodagent free of charge on iTunes. Ads can be viewed on the main screen, as well as all subscreens, with app elements scrolling behind the ad. Mood-based advertising – enabling the app to serve up ads that correlate to the emotions or mood of a playlist – is slated for availability to advertisers later this year.

Syntonetic is also making an ad-free version of Moodagent available for listeners who want to enjoy the app without advertisements at a cost of $4.99. The ad-free version will be available shortly on iTunes. The features of the paid version of Moodagent remain the same as the ad-supported version.
