The Texas Testosterone Festival Presented by SugarBaby Swimwear Calls Austin Fitness Buffs to Test their Skills in the Spartan 300 Challenge on Aug. 15, 2009

AUSTIN, Texas - Central Texans are currently training to compete in The Spartan 300 Challenge, which will take place at The Texas Testosterone Festival at The Palmer Events Center on August 15th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“The Spartan 300 Challenge,” presented by Zhen Mei Nutritional Supplements and CrossFit Central, is a demanding physical endurance competition based on the movie “300.” The challenge itself served as fitness test for the actors of the movie and was the culmination of months of rigorous personal training used to achieve their chiseled physiques. Exercises in the challenge include pull-ups, dead lifts, box jumps, kettlebell clean to presses, floor wipers, and push-ups, all totaling a grueling 300 repetitions.

Personal trainers, weekend warriors and enthusiastic citizens are encouraged to participate in the event, where nearly $1,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the contestants with the best times. The Challenge, which offers beginner, intermediate and elite levels of competition, is designed to accommodate a range of fitness levels.

Registration for the competition is $20; spectators can watch the Challenge for the cost of admission to the Festival ($6 in advance, $9 at the door).
