Time Warner Cable Invests More Than $850,000 to Complete New State of the Art Hub Facility in South Carolina

Company Reaffirms Commitment to Summerville Community

Summerville, SC (July 16, 2012) – Time Warner Cable executives, employees and Summerville Mayor Bill Collins celebrated the unveiling of a new hub site which utilizes a new innovative “pod” concept to better serve customers.  The hub is the second largest to be built in South Carolina by Time Warner Cable and houses technical equipment including fiber, coaxial cable and Ethernet enabling engineers to manage and make changes quickly and easily.

The “pod” concept is the first of its kind and was developed by the local engineering team in South Carolina.  Traditional hubs locate equipment by function in the same area with Digital Video equipment located in one part of the building and the High Speed Internet equipment located in a different section.   With the pod containing all of the services for a group of customers together, engineers can address potential problems faster. This quicker response results in the customer experiencing less time without services should a problem occur.

“Time Warner Cable is proud to serve customers in South Carolina, particularly the Summerville area and this facility reaffirms our commitment to the community and state,” said Charlene Keys, Time Warner Cable area vice president of operations–South Carolina.  “Our Summerville customers display a high level of technical expertise and are among the first areas to fully utilize our newest products and services.”

With the coastal area of South Carolina being one of the state’s fastest growing areas and the cable industry growing and changing at a rapid pace, it became clear that our  technology had outgrown the old site.  In addition to serving traditional cable customers out of this new site, because of the upgraded technology and engineering, Time Warner Cable Business Class will also utilize this facility to service its growing base of small to mid-size businesses as well as its larger enterprise customers.

“Time Warner Cable’s investment of more than $850,000 allows us to best serve our diverse and growing customer base in the area,” said Sue Reinhold, vice president of engineering for the Carolinas. “Time Warner Cable enables our customers to better enjoy their passions, from their favorite TV shows and movies to their favorite games and sports teams. The new hub in Summerville is a part of how we deliver that service excellence.”
