BUFFALO, N.Y.T.L. Cannon Companies, the franchisee for 61 Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants across upstate New York and Connecticut, is part of the national movement thanking the 24 million U.S. veterans and active duty military for their service to our country this Veterans Day. On Friday, November 11, current and former servicemen and women are invited to come to Applebee’s for a great meal and heartfelt “thanks”… absolutely free.

On Veterans Day only, veterans and those on active duty with proof of United States military service can choose one free entrée from Applebee’s Veterans Day Menu:

  • 7-ounce House Sirloin
  • Three-Cheese Chicken Penne
  • Fiesta Lime Chicken®
  • Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger
  • Chicken Tenders Platter
  • Oriental Chicken Salad
  • Double Crunch Shrimp

 In addition to free meals, Applebee’s is asking guests who come into its restaurants prior to Veterans Day to fill-out “thank you” cards. Every card received will count toward Applebee’s national military appreciation program, “24 Million Thank Yous,” which is updated daily. Guests and anyone in the community are also encouraged to say thanks to veterans and active duty military on Applebee’s “virtual wall of honor” at www.facebook.com/applebees or http://www.applebees.com/thankyoumovement.

“Veterans Day is an occasion to pay homage to the millions of active duty military and veterans who bravely risk their lives for our freedom,” said Stephanie Griffin, director of marketing and public relations, T.L. Applebee’s restaurants across the country served more than 1 million free meals on Veterans Day 2010. Since the program’s inception in 2009, Applebee’s restaurants have served more than 2 million veterans and active duty military.

Additional details about Veterans Eat Free:

Veterans and active duty military need to provide proof of service, which includes U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

Traditional side dishes are included with the free entrées; 2 for $20 deal, appetizers, upgraded side items or extras, beverages, desserts and gratuity are not included.
