The Hy-Vee Shootout Returns December 14-17 on Time Warner Cable Metro Sports

17th annual event features 42 area high school basketball teams

KANSAS CITY (December 5, 2011) – The Hy-Vee Shootout returns to Avila University Dec. 14–17, featuring 21 games between 42 local high school basketball teams.

As has become the tradition, each game in the 17th annual event will pit a team from Missouri against a team from Kansas, with both boys and girls teams taking part. Time Warner Cable Metro Sports is organizing the event again this year, and the station will show all 21 games live in their entirety, with almost all the games being broadcast in high definition.

“The Hy-Vee Shootout has become a great tradition for basketball fans and high school sports fans in Kansas City, and we’re proud to be a part of it and to continue to provide great programming like this to Time Warner Cable customers,” said Chris Huwe, General Manager of TWC Metro Sports.

“Hy-Vee is excited to once again showcase the best high school basketball from the metro area with the 2011 Hy-Vee Shootout,” said Nancy Pagel, Kansas City area Marketing Director for Hy-Vee. “These four days of competition will mark our 17th year of providing a forum for action-packed matchups featuring talented high school athletes, and Hy-Vee salutes and supports the dedicated coaches, athletes and Metro Sports for being a part of this one-of-a-kind tournament.”

Tickets for the Hy-Vee Shootout are available for $7 per day and can be purchased online at www.kcmetrosports.com or at the event itself.

Nineteen of the 21 games will be broadcast live in HD on Metro Sports, and the other two games (the Lee’s Summit North/Harmon and the Lee’s Summit West/Sumner Academy games on Dec. 15) will be broadcast live on Metro Sports 2 (TWC Channel 311) and Metro Network (TWC Channel 5) due to Missouri Tigers basketball on Metro Sports.
