Click And Share: Every Picture Tells Your Story

TweetPhoto Makes it Simple for Millions Around the Globe to Share Photos In Real-Time

San Diego, CA -- What do pop diva Britney Spears, ESPN’s Bassmaster Mark Zona, and MLB fans have in common?

All are early adopters of TweetPhoto, a new, free real-time platform for sharing digital photos over Twitter, Facebook and other social media.

TweetPhoto is designed to allow Twitter users to post their photos quickly and easily with just a click, so their followers can view them, post comments, and even vote on or “favorite” them.

In its first 90 days, TweetPhoto has generated millions of page views, and interest from developers who are building their own applications for the service. TweetPhoto’s founders, Sean Callahan and Rodney Rumford, have opened their entire development platform to the Twitter development community, a first for any photo-sharing service on Twitter.

“It’s a sandbox. How do you want to build your castle?” said Rumford.

“Did you visit a gorgeous, deserted beach on your vacation? Are you watching a fantastic concert? Did your child just take his or her first step? After capturing these special moments with your phone or camera, in seconds you can share them in real-time with your friends and Twitter followers,” said Callahan.

The Twitter community has taken notice of TweetPhoto and likes what it sees - within 10 days of its launch, TweetPhoto’s Web site had generated more than a million page views.

People from all walks of life are discovering and using TweetPhoto to share their own personal stories. Among them:

• Britney Spears, who shared a photo from a new ad campaign for the Candies clothing line, and a pic of her July 11, 2009, concert in Copenhagen, Denmark. More than 100,000 people have viewed the two photos, and page views on TweetPhoto spiked by 1.8 million the day the Candies photo was posted.
• Mark Zona, or the Bassmaster, the host of a “Mystik’s World’s Greatest Fishing Show” on ESPN, has posted dozens of photos on TweetPhoto for his Twitter followers.
• Moonfruit, a British Web-hosting service, held a contest in which Twitter users had to incorporate the company’s tagline into a tweet or image. The winners earned Mac Powerbook computers. TweetPhoto users from Amsterdam to Rio De Janeiro posted wildly creative photos.
• Mexican airline Vivaaerobus.com gave away a free ticket to the creator of the best photo using the company logo. Entries shared over TweetPhoto included shots from Paris, Stonehenge and the pyramids near Mexico City.
• The Smithsonian Institution has used TweetPhoto to share images with followers.
• Baseball fans proudly share photos of their favorite teams and ballparks.

TweetPhoto takes the photo-sharing capability of Twitter to a new level. The enormous volume of tweets flowing over the Internet means users can easily miss an update or photo sent by a friend or a favorite celebrity. TweetPhoto extends the life of photos beyond the tweet, allowing users to access them indefinitely on the TweetPhoto Web site.

The most popular subjects for photos shared on TweetPhoto include sports, food, musicians, children, pets, cars and motorcycles. Thousands of new photos are uploaded to the site each day, where they are stored, and sent to users’ Twitter accounts.

TweetPhoto allows users to:

• Upload photos from their computer or mobile phones and share them on Twitter and Facebook.
• Vote up or down on photos, and designate them as favorites. (A great tool for users who want to run contests.)
• Track how many people look at a photo.
• Automatically geo-tag photos sent from a GPS-enabled phone, providing precise location information to viewers.
• Filter photos by Twitter or Facebook friends.
• Search tagged photos on the Web site.

“Everyone has a cell phone. Every phone has a camera and every picture tells a story,” said Rumford. “With TweetPhoto, we’ve made it easy to share those stories and interact with friends through commenting, voting, favoriting and sharing. Email a photo to our site, and TweetPhoto automatically posts it on Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites. Sharing photos with friends and followers has never been easier.”
