09.02.2009 – BEVERLY HILLS, CA - Members of the business community experienced a truly special event on Monday, August 31st as Gravity Summit debuted on the East Coast at the Harvard Faculty Club. Streamed live all day on CNN.com Live, the Internet's only multi-stream live video news service, Gravity Summit treated attendees to personal stories from Twitter stars MC Hammer and Gary Vaynerchuk who shared how social media has catapulted their brands and how businesses can learn from their passion for the space. In addition, the Twittersphere was ablaze with over 4,000 Tweets about the event, its speakers and insights as #GravSum was a trending topic on Twitter by early afternoon, a fete usually accomplished only by breaking news, household brands and celebrities.
"The rapid pace of the event and the amount of truly insightful content that was shared by the presenters and attendees was truly amazing. To have this many great minds in one room at one time helping each better understand how businesses are using social media for high impact results is a sight to behold," said Gravity Summit founder Rodney Rumford. "The huge online engagement from the Twittersphere immediately added to the conversation, and to have this massive reach to a worldwide audience is a sign of how important conversations get shared online."
Gravity Summit also featured an impressive line-up up of speakers from tops brands such as Dunkin' Donuts, Southwest Airlines, the American Red Cross, CNN, Domino's and EMC who provided hard-hitting case studies on social media marketing strategies that are contributing towards their bottom line. The top names in advertising, marketing and public relations were also represented by Arnold Worldwide, SHIFT Communications and Rebel Industries, and special guests like Mark Young, Harvard Business School Alumni, and Jason Schupbach, Creative Economy Industry Director for the Commonwealth of MA, brought some unique high level insight on the economy, social media and what's happening locally.
"Gravity Summit has been called the the 'gold standard' of social media conferences, and we certainly lived up to that at our most recent event at Harvard," said Gravity Summit CEO Beverly Macy. "We are pleased that we continue to attract the highest quality speakers from the world's biggest brands. And the fact that Keynote MC Hammer joined the attendees at the after party was definitely impressive."
Following the event, Gravity Summit hosted a free TweetUp in conjunction with Boston Social Media Evangelist Joselin Mane at OM Restaurant in Harvard Square that was attended by more than 100 people including attendees from Gravity Summit, local professionals."
