uShip Tracking has been expanded to now include post-paid AT&T and T-Mobile phones (Sprint users have been able to use tracking since last year). Truckers simply opt-in to have automatic, hands-free updates sent to their customers so they can keep their eyes on the road. No application needs to be downloaded.
Drivers can also post manual location updates and Facebook-style status updates to their uShip profiles, and collectively, these tracking tools give transporters on uShip greater ability to give customers peace of mind when it comes to the location and well-being of their belongings.
Those who continue to practice unsafe text run the risk of disqualification and potential criminal charges, as well as fines up to $2750 for each offense.
If the those reasons aren’t enough to stop one from texting on the road, consider this: FMCSA research shows that drivers who send and receive text messages take their eyes off the road for an average of 4.6 out of every 6 seconds while texting. At 55 miles per hour, this means that the driver is traveling the length of a football field, including the end zones, without looking at the road.
