Vermont Public Radio Announces Holiday Program Schedule

Lineup includes Boston Pops Holiday Concert in special partnership with WGBH and Classical New England

As part of Vermont Public Radio’s signature holiday programming, VPR Classical presents the Boston Pops Holiday Concert on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25 at 1 p.m.

The two-hour concert, recorded live at Boston’s Symphony Hall, features the Boston Pops, conductor Keith Lockhart, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. They take the stage with favorite carols, a few surprises, and a visit from a certain fellow in a red suit.

The program is part of Vermont Public Radio’s new partnership with WGBH and Classical New England to provide broadcasts of concerts by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. VPR Classical is one of only a handful of stations in the country to broadcast concerts by the BSO, which can be heard every Sunday at 1 p.m.

"The Holiday Pops concerts are an annual tradition in New England, and we are delighted to be able to enrich the season for VPR Classical listeners through this special partnership,” said John Van Hoesen, Vice President for News and Programming. "We look forward to broadcasting Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts every Sunday afternoon on VPR Classical."
