NEW WINE LIST BRINGS THE FINGER LAKES' FINEST TO ONE PLACE

Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel offers wines from more than 20 local vineyards

03.24.2009 – WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. - March 17, 2009 - Wine connoisseurs and casual tasters might find it easier to sample the flavors and smell the aromas of Finger Lakes Wines, thanks to the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. The upscale hotel recently unveiled its 2009 wine list - a collection of 56 sparkling, white, red and dessert wines to satisfy any palate.

More than 2/3 of the hotel’s extensive wine list is comprised of Finger Lakes Wines, coming from the nearby Cayuga, Keuka and Seneca Lake wine trails.

The Finger Lakes Region boasts a rich variety of wines for every taste, but it’s known for crisp, sweet and fruitful Rieslings. The hotel’s wine list includes six Riesling selections alone, all from the Seneca and Keuka Lake wine trails.

“The Finger Lakes Region offers a world-class wine tasting experience, and we brought an exceptional variety of local flavors to our Coldwater Bar and dining room,” said Floyd Hunter, general manager, Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. “Our guests can choose from a wide variety of Finger Lakes wines, produced at more than 20 local vineyards, to complement any meal or occasion. They can practically take a wine tour without having to leave the hotel.”

The Finger Lakes Wine Region includes vineyards in Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler and Yates counties. The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail is the oldest and longest-running wine trail in New York State, and one of the oldest in the country.

Hart Hotels, of Buffalo, N.Y., recently opened the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, situated on the southern end of Seneca Lake. The $14 million resort features 104 guestrooms and suites, more than 4,200 square feet of conference and banquet space, upscale dining and a lakeside patio bar. Just three miles from Watkins Glen International and nearby Watkins Glen state park, the hotel provides first class accommodations and amenities unparalleled regionally.
About Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel
Designed by architect Norbert Hausner, the hotel’s décor strives to tell a story of the region’s storied past. Throughout the hotel, guests will notice walls lined with vintage photographs of Watkins Glen in its heyday, when the world’s fastest drivers raced through its streets. Other walls adorned with rock echo the look of the gorge of the nearby State Park. Each deluxe guest room features whitewashed furniture and beautiful wood floors, and a spa inspired shower mixed with a casual elegance design. Several rooms and suites include a balcony and breathtaking view of Seneca Lake. The hotel’s Blue Point Grille features an upscale menu by head chef Chris Hascall and is complemented by a wine list featuring the region’s finest wines.
The Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel is located directly on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, and is just a short drive from the Cayuga and Keuka Lake wine trails. For more information, visit www.watkinsglenharborhotel.com.
