Mission Federal ArtWalk Spotlights San Diego’s Art Scene
San Diego’s Original Fine Art Festival celebrates 28th year as the largest art event in the region- April 28 and 29, 2012
WHAT: Founded by artists, Mission Federal ArtWalk enters its 28th year as a treasured event in San Diego. The fine art festival takes over 18 blocks of downtown San Diego in the hip and historic Little Italy community. Set apart from other art events, Mission Federal ArtWalk is considered an accessible and welcoming venue for art collectors and visitors to interact with artists, view and purchase their artwork and enjoy an outdoor casual atmosphere under southern California’s sunny skies.
Mission Federal ArtWalk is a juried exhibition of original fine art from an array of different genres including paintings, sculpture, photography and more. The festival also celebrates San Diego’s diverse performing arts with an extensive lineup of music and dance performances. More than 350 artists are selected to participate, representing California and its bordering states as well as Mexico. Items on display are available for purchase directly from the artist with an expected price range of $50 to above $15,000.
Families are invited to bring their kids to enjoy KidsWalk, a special area at the event offering more than 20 hands-on art activities provided by regional children’s museums, performing art schools and art instructors.
While strolling through Little Italy, visitors may indulge in five stages of live music, a dedicated venue for San Diego’s dance companies, terrific eateries and creative vignettes of performing and interactive entertainment.
